About Tommy
On July 29, 2009, Tommy Botell was killed by a rock retaining wall that collapsed while hiking with his family at Lassen Volcanic National Forest.
Tommy's sister Katrina, was seriously injured and suffered numerous facial fractures.
Tommy was a dedicated scout, a fan of Indiana Jones, a budding adventurer and a beloved son and brother.
Tommy died in the loving arms of his mother. He was 9 years old.
This site is dedicated to his memory and keeping that memory alive.
Tommy, with tomorrow being your birthday you’re so much in my thoughts, as you are every other day, but more so tomorrow. It makes me so sad when I think how much you’re missed. You’ll always, forever, be in my heart. Happy Birthday Tommy. I love you.

Happy Birthday, Tommy.
We went camping last weekend, and it brought back a lot of memories, for me as well as for the boys. On Sunday, we celebrated my birthday, just before packing up and heading out. It reminded me again that your birthday was coming up, and here it is. We all miss you so much, but at least we know where you are, celebrating with all of our loved ones who have gone to heaven.

Okay, Baby Boy, I guess it is my turn. The day you were born my life became brighter. You entered this world just as you left it…quick and fast. You were a big boy. I thought I had more labor time. I told the nurses that it couldn’t be time. The pain was not that bad. I thought I just had to go to the bathroom. I told the doctor to go ahead with his lunch. I went into the bathroom and felt your precious little head. I walked out of the bathroom and said, “The baby is coming out.” They said there is no way. I said “I am holding the head. The baby is coming out!” They said, “Do not push.” I said, “Yeah, right.” The doctor came in just in time to catch you. You were big. 9 1/2 pounds. You were always so proud of the fact that you came into this world so big that your legs were bowed, nose was smashed, and cord was wrapped around your neck. The sonogram “suggested” that you were a girl. I knew you were not.
I saw what they missed. It wasn’t hard to miss. I knew that you were to be my son…my only son. You left my life just as you entered it..quick and fast. I thought I had more time. I didn’t realize that you were only given to me for 9 wonderful years. I live with no regrets. I lived every moment like I knew it would someday come to an end. Maybe because I know that ALL GOOD things do come to an end. I don’t know. But I do thank you for being a part of my life and brightening my days with your smile and your sunshine. I thank God for giving me this special time with you, to get to know your sweet soul. I can not wait to see you again, my love. I will hold you forever in Heaven. I miss you so much that I cannot breathe at times. I love you so much that my heart aches at times.
But, I will survive, my love, because I live to make you proud. And to see you again. To hold you again. To be with you again…until we meet again, my little love. Happy Birthday Tommy, My only Son.

I wish you were here. We had over 2000 books set out and we made 200 cupcakes. Timmy wanted to eat them all. (I mean the cupcakes not the books.) I hope we do the book exchange next year too. I had so much fun. I miss you.

I have a memory of tommy & me when we had these pretend fluffballs and we would play with them. I was saying that my little fluffball named Lollipop needed vitamin L tommy asked what was that and i said vitamin lollipop. tommy said that his fluffball ,Mario, needed vitamin M so i went through all of the M words I know but I didnt know. Finally I just asked him what it was and he said ” Vitamin Mushroom duh.” then we burst out laughing.

It’s almost your birthday once again. Brittany has been collecting books for the Tommy botell Book Drive at the school this year. So far almost 1,500 books. Your Mom is getting ready to cook all those wonderful carrot cakes you just love. I have been thinking about you every day this year. Missing you always Love Daddy-Poo.
